Preface:
This article’s main purpose is to give you a snapshot or overview of Fujitsu Tablet PC’s. We will go over the company history, the current product line, Technical Specifications, and a general feeling for the customer reviews. We hope this article is useful in your search to find the perfect Tablet PC for you!
Fujitsu Company and History:
Fujitsu is a Japanese multinational Hardware and IT company headquartered in Minato, Japan. They have 185,000 employees in 70 counties world-wide. Their new tag-line is “Shaping Tomorrow with you.” Their biggest competitor is probably Samsung. The company, established in 1935, is renowned for its innovation, stylistic products, and overall quality. This is especially true with Fujitsu Tablet PC’s.
Fujitsu Tablet PC’s:
Currently, as of 2011, Fujitsu has a great line of Tablet PC’s for you to choose from. Currently, Fujitsu has 4 different models: the Lifebook T580, Lifebook T900, Lifebook 730, and the Lifebook TH700. Fujitsu’s Tablets are on the pricier side compared to its market competitors. Their prices range from $999-$1,899. It’s safe to say you won’t find a cheap Tablet PC with this company. But their moto seems to be that you get what you pay for. And they don’t seem to believe in making a cheap version of their products.
Technical Specs:
Every Tablet PC in the Fujitsu Lifebook Tablet PC series is run by the Genuine Windows 7 professional operating system. They also all have an Intel i7, i5, or i3 processor. In terms of screen size, Fujitsu Tablet PC’s tend to be medium to big. The smallest screen they have is 10.1″ and the largest screen they have is 13.1″. Resolution-wise, the Lifebook T900 features a maximum resolution of 1280×800, which compared to the rest of the current products on the market is up at the top. All Lifebook Tablets feature the latest dual digitizer technology coming with pen input and multi-touch interaction. This leads to an awesome touch screen experience. All obviously come with Wifi capability.
Fujitsu Tablet PC Customer Reviews/Reception:
For the most part, the customer reviews on the Internet seem to be positive when it comes to Fujitsu Tablets. The Lifebook T900, Lifebook 730 and the Lifebook Th700 rated no lower than 4.2 out of 5 stars. Most customers seemed to be pretty happy with the overall performance of the Tablets. Many upgraded their Tablets to an Intel i7, upgraded 4 Gig RAM and 7200 RPM HDD. The sentiment seems that consumers are looking for a product that is not quite as bulky as a laptop but more functional than a simple virtual keyboard that has handwriting technology. While these Tablets are definitely on the cutting edge of technology, they fall just a tiny bit short of expectations. The main surprise was a 3.2 out 5 rating for the Lifebook T580 (although please keep in mind there were much less reviews for this product). In terms of sample size, more reviews would be ideal, but we have to look at what is available. The main competitors for Fujitsu in terms of Tablet PC’s are probably the Apple iPad2 and any Acer or Samsung Tablets.
Overall, it seems like the biggest pros of Fujitsu Lifebooks are the features and functionality. It was obvious by far that the biggest con was the battery life. Multiple reviews complained about this issue. One consumer even tested his out on just internet surfing and their Fujitsu Tablet lasted only 1.5 hours! I know, us nerds need much more power than that!
Conclusion:
So what did we learn about Fujitsu Tablet PC’s? Fujitsu has been around a long time and it is pretty safe to say that the Japanese Electronics Giant will continue mass producing great products. They are on the higher end in terms of both price and quality compared to the rest of the market. They have great features and hardware including Intel Processor Chips. Screen resolution also seems to be a huge strength. Reception has been mainly positive for Fujitsu Tablet PC’s, with features being the biggest redeeming factor. Battery life was the biggest detractor for Fujitsu Tablet PC customers.
